Des Moines Zoo

So on John's first weekend off of his away rotation in Des Moines we decided to go to the zoo. It was really nice and a lot of fun. Tori said her favorite thing was the giraffes (though they had a playground that she thought was pretty cool, too) and James favorite was riding the train. I still think of him as my little baby so it always surprises me when he has opinion about something we do and gets upset when it has to end. It's really fun to see him develop a personality and start to really enjoy things that we do.

My cute little chicks hatching out of the egg. :)

Tori thought milking the cow was cool, but was bummed when nothing came out.

Tori has always loved feeding animals and I'm impressed at how fearless she is about it. Below is our strong little monkey doing the monkey bars for the first time.
The indoor exhibits and aquariums were pretty impressive for a smaller zoo. We thought the jelly fish above were really cool.

One benefit of a zoo in a smaller city is you feel like you can get really close to the animals (though I guess with some animals that might not be a good thing). All in all a fun day - makes the Des Moines rotation seem a little more worth it.
